Betty Green was one of the first female police officers in the Boise Police Department in Idaho, USA and celebrated her 91st birthday on May 1, 2018.
Green is the oldest living female member of the Boise Police Department and was honoured by friends, family, and members of the police service in a surprise celebration.
Green was a detective in the Juvenile and Morals division, which investigated shoplifting, runaways, and drugs and alcohol abuse, especially by minors. She stated there were a lot of challenges being one of the first female members, but she worked with great people that treated her like family and supported one another. Betty Green was one of the first women to achieve a Post Academy certificate and was the first woman to achieve the advanced certificate and to make rank. Green gave the Boise Police Department 14 years of dedicated service and states that she is very proud of the work she has done.
