Here’s a ticket you’ll be happy to receive: the Calgary Police Service is giving away complementary tickets redeemable for a hot or cold beverage at Mac’s Convenience stores.
The tickets are awarded to young Calgarians who perform positive deeds and uphold good behaviour, such as helping a fellow student or attending all of their classes. The program reinforces positive behaviour in young people and gives the police a chance to converse with them as well. Since the positive ticketing program started in Calgary 18 months ago, 2,350 beverages have been redeemed.
“This is a great opportunity for officers to recognize positive behaviour and build relationships with youth in our community, which is the cornerstone of community policing,” said acting Sgt. Andrew Critchley.
By working with community partners, the Calgary Police Service is able to lead change by developing strategies to address education, prevention and early intervention. Not to mention the added benefit of making every child’s day a little sweeter!
