Experience Alberta Wilderness: Canyon Creek Ice Caves

Take a multi-dimensional journey to the ice caves located in Canyon Creek in Kananaskis Elbow, Alberta. Take a drive to Canyon Creek, which is west of Bragg Creek, and enjoy a scenic ride filled with fields, forests and mountain ranges. Hop off at the parking area and begin your hike, or for those seeking more adventure, grab a bicycle and coast through the hills and valleys to Moose Ridge Mountain. On the edge of Moose Ridge Mountain 500 feet above the trail, an opening appears in the face of the mountain. Located here is the Canyon Creek Ice Cave, which boasts a once in a lifetime view, pillars and walls of ice, and a small network of tunnels to explore.

Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as you hike your way up to the cave entrance. Upon arriving to the opening of the cave you will instantly feel the cool air contained within, refreshing you after your ascent in the hot summer sun. Sit on the ledge of the cave and take in the view while enjoying lunch. For those hoping to explore the cave, be sure to bring a sweater, flashlight and head protection.
